hey, bloggers.. (",)
something in today's StraitTimes got my train of thoughts go chugging away.Front page headlines stated the tragic deaths of 4 Malaysians hoping for a life saving lung transplant. they were waiting waiting for donors since March..and despite availability of organs when 5 individuals who had pledged to donate died, these patients patients still did not get any. WHY?? ...dig this-"the families of the pledged donors refused to donate their organs.." am i wrong to feel appalled? i was shocked.. and .. so sympathetic for the all the lives lost-both patients and the donors.. none had their wishes granted.thnx to third party wishes, which i think is really unnecessary..if i may say so.(yes, they might have their own reasons and all... but still??)
Question is weren't there any legal obligation or legal relation between the donor and the donor association(or any special body responsible for the matter)... ceh! legal observations... konon!!
but, seriously.. i'm sure these donors are contractually bound and furthermore, wat matters most are the donors' decisions and not their relatives! (thnx, justin.. for helping me understand) (",)
bottom line, what got me thinking was how will MY parents react to my decision of donating my organs.. =) i've yet to ask them when i go home.. cause i really believe pledging to donate my organs' a superb idea. malaysia's in dire need of organs..somebody out there deserves healthy kidneys, liver, heart, lungs... (got my drift?).. like mine. haha.. Vek, don't bother pledging for ur lungs, k.. *kiddin* then again, lungs do reproduce cells, don't they?? i'm not the doc.. Vic?
till here for now.. toodles~
